Namaste Nepal-Belgium new project in April, 2022-“RESPONSIBLE NEPAL”

“Responsible Nepal” is the dream of our friend Sudip Dhamala, the project leader of our organization. “Namaste Nepal – Belgium” is really happy to give moral and financial support to this project.
Responsible tourism encompasses dimensions that connect the local community and visitors. It is a tourism insight that brings greater benefit to the local population and the well-being of the host community, the culture and their environment. It helps to enable fair trade in tourism by ensuring that the people whose land, natural resources, labour, knowledge and culture are used for tourism activities. This can be called “people- and environmentally friendly”. Responsible tourism is characterized by tourism that minimizes the negative economic, environmental and social impacts, which also generates economic benefits for the local population and the well-being of the host communities. Responsible tourism should make a positive contribution to the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage. It offers tourists enjoyable and respectful experiences. Meaningful contact with the local population leads to a better understanding of local cultural, social and environmental issues.

VISION AND MISSION.

Our mission is to take travellers on the journey of nature-based tourism, devoted to authentic, sustainable & life-changing experiences. We unite our effort to meet the travellers’ interests and provide benefits to the host community and the environment in return. We believe to bring tourism as a strong catalyst for community development and a positive change. We support protecting and conserving fragile destinations and their habitat by reducing tourism’s negative socio, economic and environmental impacts and maximizing the responsible travel movement that benefits all.

By 2030 we will be a better and the leading responsible travel service provider in Nepal for always satisfying the traveller’s interest, supporting the local economy and acting responsibly towards the environment. The organization aims to offset more carbon emissions than it generates as a travel company.

The Objectives.

To provide unique travel experiences through alternative forms of tourism in Nepal, develop a travel digitization platform, create local employment through tourism, preservation of the fragile landscapes, reduce the ecological footprint and set up CO2 compensation projects, promote local products and crafts and bring together local communities and stakeholders to meet future approaches to sustainable tourism.

HOW DO YOU BECOME A RESPONSIBLE TOURIST?

Travellers who are aware of minimizing negative social, cultural and environmental impacts of tourism and maximizing the benefits to the host communities are known as responsible tourists. They are the people who show respect during their journey and in return get a connection with the landscape and the local population. We would like to give some tips to be a responsible tourist.

  1. Towards Environment: Do not litter, avoid plastic waste, carry your water bottle and portable water filters; do not disturb wildlife, follow the National Park, Wildlife Reserve and Conservational Areas protocols, and travel by less carbon-emitting medium (by overland/by foot), increase your travel duration in a particular destination, avoid animal tourism, do not buy natural souvenirs and support or contribute to the green initiatives.
  2. Towards culture and community: Always respect the host community, do not act in a way that harms the ethical standards of the host society, explore the local lifestyle and help to promote it authentically, volunteer on social development projects, and ask permission before taking a photograph and communicate in a polite gesture.
  3. Towards local economy: Choose locally operated eco-friendly accommodation partner, Hire local guides, Shop locally and eat locally.

“Responsible Nepal” is the dream of my friend and project leader from “Namaste Nepal-Belgium” Sudip Dhamala from Raniban-Kathmandu. If Sudip’s dream can come true, then the rest of the world will admire Nepal for its immense magnificence and that will give a huge boost to tourism. The Earthquakes from 2015 and the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020/21 have wreaked havoc on global health and the economy. Tourism is one of the most affected sectors … but it is never too late.

Let us work all together to make Nepal’s tourism reach a greater high of success. Namaste Nepal-Belgium extends best wishes to everyone who respects and loves his/her country. Namaste Nepal-Belgium will be a partnership and support “Responsible Nepal” … now and in the future.
