Kathmandu is one of the most polluted cities in the world. The smelly exhaust from the cars and motor vehicles is particularly bad. Pollution can be seen in various forms: the (holy) rivers are full of gunk, the deforestation is incessant, residents and tourists leave waste and plastic bottles everywhere, non-degradable oxygen bottles are scattered on the Himalayan peaks.
