Unfortunately, on 26th August, a flash flood hit the border area of Rasuwagadhi-Kerung which effected almost hundred of kilometer down to Dhading-Nuwakot region as well. Almost everything that came on the flood’s way was swept hard leaving thousands of people and animal dead as well as Homeless. What looked like beautiful river bank settlement turned out to be graveyard with mud and wood in fraction of minutes. The initial report predicts that it happened due to the massive breakdown of glacier from langtang-Lirung Mountain to LehndeKholainitially causing heavy damage to way downhill till Trishuli River Basin. The reason is simple Global Warming and its direct effect with rapid melting of snow in Himalaya. So innocent people and animals lost their life to the disaster that they were never part of.
After the immediate news of this disaster, Members of Namaste Nepal Belgium were really worried about the situation, at the same time, really wanted to stand together and share the pain of the effected people. Therefore after couple of days post disaster, we decided to conduct an immediate aid program in a virtual meeting with our founder Guido Van Briel in Belgium. He led this campaign with generosity to send an effective amount of aid to further conduct the relief program to Nepali members of Namaste Nepal Belgium.
Afterwards, Namaste Nepal- Belgium collaborated with chhiwang Karma Tamang (Nepal head of Sewa Canada International) being the mutual friend of our member Niraj Joshi, their team also shared the same vision as ours to help the effected region with necessary materials.Therefore we put all the funds together worth around (NRS. 250000) and bought necessary items related to food, sanitation and clothing.
