EASTERN NEPAL.

We know Taplejung as a hilly district and Panchtar in the Mechi-zone on the border with India. Ilam (mid-east) as a place for sunrise, tea fields and Red Panda. Jhapa in the southeast is known as the second greatest producer of tea in Nepal. Shankhuwasabha, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Sunsari and Morang are situated in the Koshi zone. These districts are significant from natural and man-made heritage points of view. Mountains, hills, rivers, waterfalls and pilgrimages tourism. Solukhumbu district lies in the Sagarmatha Zone. This district is called “the house of sherpa”. The highest peak, in the world, Mt Everest (8.848 m.), is situated here. The Tibetans call this mountain “Chomolungma”. Namche Bazaar is another well-known and touristic place.

Khotang district doesn’t contain mountains or the Terai part of Nepal. Full of altitudes and basins this hilly district is really beautiful. Okhaldhunga is meaning “the stone in the shape of a pestle”. The topography of Udaypur is hilly and plain, and Saptari is located in the lowland among other districts. The flood of the Koshi river gives great grief in this region. And last but not least Siraha, this is the smallest district of the Sagarmatha zone.
